“It has been such a blessing to have this place to stay at such a stressful time..."
When a loved one is in the hospital, the stress and fear can be unbearable. Simply getting through each decision and doctor’s report can feel overwhelming. Imagine going through a crisis like this without a comfortable, safe place to sleep, eat, and shower because you’re so far from home. That’s what the Bedford family faced when their uncle Chris was transferred to a hospital in Tulsa with swelling on the brain and painful headaches.
After a series of tests, the Bedford family got heart-breaking news—it was cancer. “As a family, you never want to hear those words,” they said, “but when you are far from home and sad and confused, that creates even more worry.” They slept for two days on the hospital floor because their limited budget left them with nowhere else to go. And then they heard about Hospitality House of Tulsa.
“It has been such a blessing to have this place to stay at such a stressful time,” the Bedfords said. Then they experienced an additional surprise—they found out their uncle’s brother Carl and his family had stayed in the very same room at Hospitality House back in 2008. “To know that Hospitality House of Tulsa has helped different members of our family so many years apart is truly a blessing.”
So many families need a safe, welcoming place to stay and receive support when facing one of the worst moments in their lives. Unfortunately, the need for our hospitality is greater now than it’s ever been. We’ve already served 15-20% more people this year than we planned for. These numbers will only continue to grow as we faithfully serve people who have nowhere else to turn during their health crisis.
But you can help us be the hands and feet of God to them in their hardship. Jesus said, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me…” There is no better time than Christmas to honor Him and show our love for others supporting them as they deal with a medical emergency.
Your ongoing generous gift right now will help us serve the growing number of families who rely on Hospitality House of Tulsa. As a committed donor, you are helping us to offer rooms to more people, serve more meals, offer more transportation, and make a difference in the lives of those who need us.
Please prayerfully consider a gift to Hospitality House of Tulsa today! Help us end this year strong and enter 2024 ready to be there for those who depend on us when they literally have nowhere else to turn during a healthcare emergency. And thank you for your generous giving and your prayers. With your support, we will continue to show those in crisis God’s love through hospitality year after year.
